Looking for a better SCM solution?

This article is specifically for IT organizations looking for an alternate SCM solution.  Typically, an installation looks for other options because:

  • an in-house system may no longer be supportable or upgradable
  • there may be audit or compliance concerns
  • and/or the current SCM product has increasing MIPs upgrade fees and maintenance

Organizations often call us to save money, but ISPW's sophisticated functionality is the pleasant surprise.

About half of our current customers had another Library or SCM tool such as CA-Librarian, CA-Panvalet, CA-Endevor or ChangeMan ZMF, and the other half had an in-house system.  Some of the in-house systems were so sophisticated the organizations had never been able to find a vendor product to take the place of what they had developed internally, which was often based on DB2.   As ISPW is DB2-based, with built-in extensibility to accommodate any site-specific data, customers have been very successful in migrating to ISPW and retiring their older solution.

Here are six differences between ISPW and other SCM solutions:

  1. User and Server-based pricing - organizations pay only for the number of registered users and servers defined to ISPW.  There are no fees for MIPs upgrades.
  2. Control - ISPW's cross-platform capabilities give organizations control over both text and binary code in a single solution.
  3. DB2 - ISPW is the only DB2-based SCM solution in the market today.
  4. Performance - with its efficient architecture, written in Assembler and C, it is scalable to any number of concurrent users.
  5. Implementation - the meta data repository comes pre-populated to streamline installation and customization.  Migration routines for other SCM tools are included.
  6. User acceptance - because of its intuitive user interface and tools integration features, ISPW is a truly useful teamware environment.
